Extended Project Qualification

The EPQ is a unique qualification that is worth UCAS points (28) – university often lower degree entry for those with an A*/A EPQ.

Topic is free choice

It includes:

  • 5000 word research essay
  • Production log
  • Presentation

Vision: The EPQ is highly valued by higher education because of its aim of developing dedication and independence.  It is therefore our intention to ensure that students achieve these important life skills. The EPQ should allow for freedom and creativity whilst nurturing a highly academic approach including research skills and evaluation.  The EPQ aims to build the resilience of students in order for them to complete a challenging project over an extended period, recognising both strengths and weaknesses; adapting, problem-solving and making decisions in order to rectify difficulties.  The department also has the desire for students to enjoy exploring their chosen topic.
