KS3

In Years 7 and 8, our students will experience a wide variety of subjects, enabling them to develop a love of learning and a deep foundation of knowledge and skills that will prepare them for their next stage. At the start of year 7 students will take baseline tests in English, Maths and Science. We then personalise learning to support and challenge pupils and ensure that they make the best progress that they are capable. We are keen to develop reading and writing skills within our school and assess these skills on entry to Year 7 so we can offer support and guidance to students who need it.

Subjects studied in Year 7 and 8 include Art, Personal Education Development, Computing, Drama, DT, English, Food, French, Physical education, Geography, German, History, Maths, Music, Religious Studies, Science. 

In Year 9, our students continue with a very broad curriculum, ensuring that they are receiving a varied and exciting learning programme. In some subjects, they will start to study areas of the GCSE syllabus, or skills linked to this; this will help prepare them for choosing their GCSE subjects. A GCSE options programme has been developed so that students and parents are well informed about the options that are available to them and are aware of career opportunities that can result from these choices. Our Year 9 pupils are all entered for the Entry Level Computer Science qualification.  This qualification helps ensure they are all technology literate, as well as preparing them for the start of their GCSEs. At the end of Year 9 pupils sit their Religious Studies Short Course GSCE which is excellent preparation for their GCSE exams in Year 11.
