Current news items: The documents below have links to current (and past) news reports, webpages, videos, podcasts, talks etc which relate to the geography covered in school. These will be updated (including links to relevant Open Learn courses for sixth formers) so worth revisiting.

Teaching Resources from the Geographical Association (GA): These packs have been put together for teachers so there are lots of instructions on how to use them in the classroom. However, there are plenty of activities (and often with the answers) that you could work through. Read through the ‘introduction’ to each section first - these usually indicate which key stage (3, 4 or 5) they are most suitable for but feel free to look at something in a higher key stage too!

Teaching Resources from the Royal Geographical Society (RGS): These packs have been put together for teachers.  Plenty of instructions and activities here that you can work through.  Some are directed at particularly key stages but you can always challenge yourself and try out something from a higher key stage!  Some of the resources require a (paid) subscription so you will be unable to access these:

Oxfam: This site also has resources for teachers / activity packs. These cover areas such as development, climate change, food supply and others. You will need to search using key words or scroll through the list on this page: https://oxfamilibrary.openrepository.com/handle/10546/620557

World Wildlife Fund: A range of habitats and locations are included in this page. Very suitable for GCSE Sustaining Ecosystems but also learning more about some of the more unusual locations and environments in the world: https://www.worldwildlife.org/places

BBC Bitesize Lessons: The BBC are broadcasting KS3 Geography lessons on a Tuesday afternoon. These will help you recap some of the work you have covered this year and / or give you a head start on some of the topics you will cover in the future: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons

National Oak Academy: This site has been set up over the Easter holidays and currently has courses on Maps (for year 7), Tectonics (for year 8) and Development (for year 9). Years 7 and 9 - this would provide some revision of key ideas for you. BREEF - 25 minutes Youtube video focussing on coral reefs - useful for anyone in year 9 or 10 who is doing GCSE Geography. This is covered in the Sustaining Ecosystems topic. Year 12 students will also find this useful for the Exploring Oceans topic.

Seterra - Free quizzes on ‘pub’ Geography - countries, capitals, flags etc.  Ignore the messages about signing up - you can access the quizzes without a subscription.

Tutorful - A varied mix of websites, quizzes, podcasts, apps links to youtube channels and suggestions of books to look at. Some are aimed at primary school children (e.g. name the flag / country) whilst others are good for GCSE and A Level. Some of the books / web pages (e.g. The Demographic Transition, Prisoners of Geography, Urban State of Mind, Geography: Ideas in Profile, Political geography Now, Directions Magazine) are more aimed at A Level students. Scroll through and see what you can find!
