External Exams

Students must ensure that they read all the documents in the JCQ Information for Candidates found here. These documents are for students taking any external exams, coursework, non-examination assessments or controlled assessments this year. They are published by the Joint Council for Qualifications and the school and students must comply with their instructions.
Please ensure you read these notices so you understand your responsibilities as an external exam candidate. The notices explain how you should behave before, during and after written exams, your conduct on using social media and examinations/assessments, how your personal data is processed by the awarding bodies, and the rules around the production of coursework, controlled assessments and non-examined assessments.

Breaches of these instructions must be reported to the exam boards and a range of sanctions, including disqualification, may be applied.

External exams are held in May and June and students are entered for these exams in February. A Statement of Entry will be given to each student to check following this to ensure that their details are correct. Personal timetables will be issued after Easter. 

Summer 2026 timetables for GCSEs and A Levels are now available. Personal timetables will be issued to students nearer the time. Dates for non-examined assessments (NEAs) will be timetabled by the departments.

The school Exam Handbook contains important information about external exams. Please ensure you have taken some time to familiarise yourself with the rules and regulations. It takes you through the whole of the exam cycle from entries and your data to getting your certificates. It also explains what happens on the day of the exams, acceptable exams equipment and behaviour, what to do if you are ill or going to be late and reviews of your result in the summer.
