A celebration of The Crypt School history

To celebrate the history of The Crypt School, and look forward to the future with our youngest students, Year 7 visited St Mary de Crypt church and school house in Gloucester this week.

Old Cryptian Bill Spear took all students on a guided walk to appreciate the architecture of the church, school room and Greyfriars, and inside students learnt about what school was like in Tudors times and how things have changed today.

Mr Higgs talked to students about punishments like hanging students from ceilings and logs round necks which are thankfully long gone, but some features of the school remain such as expert teachers and motivated students. The ever inspiring Mr Whittaker taught all students the school song, that was sung with vigour during a service at the end of the morning, and Mrs Door shared her art expertise to guide students in sketching parts of the church.

The closing service taught the students the importance of gratitude, kindness and integrity, in line with our new school values, and Lianna and Jess delivered confident readings. We hope the students found the day educational and enriching. Thank you to all staff who supported the trip and the members of Student Executive who supported staff and students, and took wonderful photographs.
