Students ought to value and develop their knowledge and skills of enquiry and of evaluation. Our curriculum and approach to learning at school, enables them to become critical thinkers, who are open minded and reflective in their learning and who are resilient enough to prioritise their learning and embrace new challenges. Independent learning and digital literacy enables students to be flexible and ready for the world of work; achieving their full potential despite difficulties and the circumstances around them.
Teachers continue to lead their student's online learning using Google Classrooms. Students can access the classrooms they belong to using their School’s Google account credentials.
To further student's independent online learning, they can access the further Learning Resources, available for their subjects - these will offer excellent tools for revision and practice.
Student led online Enrichment Resources are also available for all subjects. We encourage our students to challenge themselves by attempting some of those activities.

Geography
Current news items: The documents below have links to current (and past) news reports, webpages, videos, podcasts, talks etc which relate to the geography covered in school. These will be updated (including links to relevant Open Learn courses for sixth formers) so worth revisiting.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CRhulBXaC9rdFWLiPDkfCbBS09Zb_DTw0jtuSEC8e_0
Teaching Resources from the Geographical Association (GA): These packs have been put together for teachers so there are lots of instructions on how to use them in the classroom. However, there are plenty of activities (and often with the answers) that you could work through. Read through the ‘introduction’ to each section first - these usually indicate which key stage (3, 4 or 5) they are most suitable for but feel free to look at something in a higher key stage too!
https://www.geography.org.uk/teaching-resources/secondary-and-post-16-resources#page-1
Teaching Resources from the Royal Geographical Society (RGS): These packs have been put together for teachers. Plenty of instructions and activities here that you can work through. Some are directed at particularly key stages but you can always challenge yourself and try out something from a higher key stage! Some of the resources require a (paid) subscription so you will be unable to access these:
The RGS have also put together this web page with lots of link to resources that are available whilst schools are closed. Scroll down to the bottom for a wide range of relevant websites:https://www.rgs.org/schools/teaching-resources/geography-at-home/
Oxfam: This site also has resources for teachers / activity packs. These cover areas such as development, climate change, food supply and others. You will need to search using key words or scroll through the list on this page:
https://oxfamilibrary.openrepository.com/handle/10546/620557
World Wildlife Fund: A range of habitats and locations are included in this page. Very suitable for GCSE Sustaining Ecosystems but also learning more about some of the more unusual locations and environments in the world: https://www.worldwildlife.org/places
BBC Bitesize Lessons: The BBC are broadcasting KS3 Geography lessons on a Tuesday afternoon. These will help you recap some of the work you have covered this year and / or give you a head start on some of the topics you will cover in the future.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons
National Oak Academy: This site has been set up over the Easter holidays and currently has courses on Maps (for year 7), Tectonics (for year 8) and Development (for year 9). Years 7 and 9 - this would provide some revision of key ideas for you. Year 8 - you may wish to look at the tectonics lessons ready for when you will cover this in year 9 next year.
https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom
Seneca: The link below takes you to the Geography Key Stage 3 pages on Seneca. You can then search for relevant topics on the left hand side. You might wish to go back over old topics again or look at something new.https://app.senecalearning.com/classroom/course/e076bd9c-75b6-4095-a600-d2a84b0dd81f

BBC Bitesize has lots of resources describing religious belief and practice – develop your comparative study of religion and subject specialist language by exploring thes
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/zmyb4wx
BBC Teach is including RS as part of its package – watch these and other programmes linked to religion and belief as this can be very diverse – for example a current series called ‘Pilgrimage’ sees 7 celebrities (both religious and non-religious) completing a 2,200km journey and follows what they discover about the world and themselves.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/ks3-religious-studies/z72qf4j
https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/gcse-national-5-religious-studies/zhptrj6
Google for ‘Thunks’ and discuss and debate these with friends remotely and family members to develop your philosophical thinking skills. For example, ‘is a white sheet of paper more blank than a black sheet paper?’
