Big Band: Pete Martin workshop

Big Band: Pete Martin workshop

The Crypt School Big Band had the fantastic opportunity to work with Mr Pete Martin, conductor of the Gloucester Youth Jazz Orchestra, on Friday 23 September.  This workshop helped to prepare our musicians for the National Concert Band Festival in which they will be competing in November.

23 students were involved, learning to develop their improvisation, ensemble and jazz techniques, and they worked a on a selection of exciting pieces they will be refining for the competition. It was an extremely productive workshop; we were very impressed by how much progress students made in the session and how professional they sounded.

There will be an opportunity to hear the band perform at our Autumn Concert on 11th October. Many thanks again to Mr Pete Martin, and also to Mr Snow and Edi May for preparing and supporting the session.
