86% of A Level grades were awarded at the A*-C level this year, with over 61.6% of grades awarded to Year 13 students at either grade A*, A or B. The overall pass mark was 99.5% A*-E. A record number of students achieved all A*-A grades in their exams.
These grades reflect the hard work and commitment of both the students in Year 13 and their teachers over the course of the last two years.
Notable individual successes include: top performer Alistair Waites, who achieved four A*’s; Jack Munday 3A* and 1 A; William Price 2 A* and 2 A’s; Sam Bell, Dan Barker, Michael Hall and Harry McLaren 2A* and 1 A; Harvey Johnson and Robyn Timmins 1A* and 3 A’s; Matt Antonio, Alicia Barton, Chris Hartshorn, Ben James and Donny Wong 1 A* and 2 A’s; Joseph Carr 2 A* and 1 B; Ryan Brooke and James Clements 1A*, 1 A and 1 B; Ben Attwood, Sam Durham, James Lippitt, Ben Woodliffe and Jacob Hamlin 3 A’s.
Nick Dyer, Headmaster, commented: “I am very proud indeed of the wonderful achievement of our Year 13 students in this year’s A Level examinations. 86% of grades were awarded at A*-C, with 27% at A*-A and 61% at A*-B - the grades needed for entry onto the most competitive university and higher level apprenticeships. Students and staff alike deserve praise for the commitment that has underpinned these academic results. We are delighted with the impressive set of university destinations that our students are heading to in the autumn and equally pleased to see a very good number of students who have now secured leading apprenticeships with local and national companies that combine work with studying for a degree. We wish good luck to our newest cohort of Old Cryptians as they leave us, and ask that they keep in touch with their future achievements.
These A Level results are the very best the School has ever achieved and a send out a very strong signal to those students in Year 11 who are thinking of coming to The Crypt to study for their A Levels, that they too can achieve highly in our outstanding sixth form.”
The Year 12 AS results were very pleasing especially given the changes that have occurred to the AS examination this year. 49% of grades were awarded A-B, with 70% of grades awarded A-C. The overall pass rate was 96% A-E. These results lay a very solid foundation for next year’s A Level results for this talented year group.
