PE & school sport is at the heart of The Crypt School. With endless opportunities to engage all students within physical activity and competitive sport.

PE Curriculum

The school offers some of the best facilities across the county for sport. With a new refurbished sports hall and fitness suite, students are able to access a wide range of activities both within the curriculum and beyond the classroom. With access to a full athletics track and training area and over 30 acres of pitches and games areas sport is at the heart of the school.

At The Crypt, we offer an extensive and varied PE curriculum, which engages all students into physical activity. Throughout the main school, all students have two PE lessons across the two-week timetable. In Year 7 and 8 there is a focus on Functional Movement to ensure students develop the appropriate movement skills to support their personal development. Functional Movement underpins every sporting activity and if our students can move more efficiently, their performance and progress will naturally improve. Alongside functional movement, students will develop skills across a range of activities including basketball, badminton, table tennis, dance, trampolining, handball and much more.

Games Curriculum

As well as the 2 hours of PE, students have a games afternoon once a week. Very much a Grammar School tradition the games afternoon allows students the opportunity to play more game related sports such as rugby, netball, football, rounders and cricket. Students of all abilities engage with each activity, which is designed to match their needs and challenge their understanding of specific sports. Games afternoons allow us extra time to develop specific teams and encourage students to represent the school in a chosen sport, with many house competitions taking place during games at different times throughout the year.
