Crypt School Year 7s take the Churchdown Rugby Tournament by Storm

What a day! Our first invitation of the season and we walked straight into it with a positive attitude. In our first match we put up an outstanding fight against Beaufort and walked away with a 28-0 win. Our confidence was boosted from this match, and we went into our next game against Kings, who were strong up front. This took us by surprise and we allowed kings to score the first try, forcing us to step up our game. Soon after, Crypt scored through the sharpness of the backs making it 7-7. We went into the next game and fixed our faults which meant we could dominate the game against Severn vale and finished with a winning score of 28-0.

We had one more game left to win to qualify top of the group, and went into this game with the momentum of the last win pushing us forward. The team grew stronger and better after each match, and we reached the semi-finals after beating Tewkesbury with a score of 35-0.

In the semi-final, we met our biggest rival and challenger in the form of St Peters. Our gameplay was immaculate and we dominated the whole game, scoring two tries. Our defence was also very, and St Peters did not score any tries. We won the semi-final 14-0 and went into the final full of confidence.

We earned our place in the final against Cleve after they had beaten kings convincingly. Both teams put up a tremendous fight but Crypt out played them all the way until the final whistle. We walked away with a

28-0 win and a trophy showing our dominance in the Churchdown tournament. This was a great way to start the season.

Everyone played exceptionally well in this tournament and represented the school really well. We hope to push on from here with the season ahead.
