House Cross Country 2012

House Cross Country 2012

We were blessed with a very pleasant day for the house cross country this year. Due to building works the course was slightly different to previous years and subsequently slightly longer. This proved more of a challenge for the boys who had to try even harder to gain points for the house. The points system works by giving a point to every student who starts and finishes the race and extra points to the first 40 athletes to finish. It was clear from the amount of students that started the race that this was going to be a very competitive year.
Every race was very competitive with boys running further and harder than some of them had ever done before. The traditional sprint at the start was again evident but the races soon settled down with the crazy early starters falling back and the more pace aware athletes making their way to the front. In the end in each race a front runner immerged and was never headed. Congratulations to the following students who were victorious:
Year 7 winner Saugat
Year 8 winner Oliver Long
Year 9 winner Miles Johnson Manly
Year 10 winner Kieron Mallard
The house result is not yet decided due to the year 11 students having not competed. Students who finished in the top 20 were invited to cross country club in attempt to make the school team for the forthcoming district cross country champs on 16th October.
