AWE lessons

AWE lessons

This year, our Year 7 and Year 8 students have continued to benefit from timetabled lessons which focus on their mental wellbeing and achievement: their AWE lessons.

The photo above shows Year 7 students exploring flight or fight syndrome by identifying the biological changes they experience when they feel scared or under threat. The students drew how the syndrome affects their body and learnt that identifying the early signs of the syndrome can help them reverse the negative impact; in turn, this awareness can help them manage difficult situations better – situations such as exams, interviews, presentations or an unfortunate event.

AWE students also learn about protecting their self-esteem, building psychological immunity, the importance of questioning, mindfulness and yoga – amongst a variety of other life-enriching lessons and techniques.
