After many months of preparatory work, The Crypt School’s ‘F1 in Schools’ Team, ‘LunAR Advanced Racing’, have yet again secured a place in the ‘F1 in Schools’ National Final to be held at Silverstone Race Track on the 20-21st April 2016. At the South West Regional ‘F1 in Schools’ Final, hosted at the University of Exeter on the 1st of March 2016, the team won in four categories and were overall winners. Their four new trophies join six other trophies won by previously successful F1 teams from The Crypt.
The success of the FI team was a product of the hard work and ingenuity of the boys and the support that they received at The Crypt School’s recently opened Engineering Centre and from both Renishaw and BMW.
This success rides on the back of three previous years’ successes and provides a golden opportunity to place The Crypt School in the engineering limelight again.
The final team comprised Donny Wong, Will Price, Alex McIlwraith, Harry McLaren, Jude Hunt and Jack Munday and these were supported by other Crypt students. The Team Leaders are Kevin Downes & Nigel Ledeux.
The day was testimony to the high quality of up and coming potential engineering prowess now available in The Crypt School which lies in Gloucestershire and which is recognised as having one of the highest density of engineering related companies in the United Kingdom.
