Whether you are already a Crypt student or wish to join us from elsewhere, I extend a warm welcome to you.

Each year I am pleased to welcome into the Sixth Form students from a number of schools and, together with the rest of the staff here, I try to ensure they join a friendly and supportive community.

Students find our approach an appropriate bridge between the tight structure of GCSE and the freedoms of university life. The Sixth Form offers challenge and opportunity to all. For the first time you are able to choose to continue your education and we believe that we can offer something that will suit your own interests, personality and abilities.

At Crypt we value success and we are firmly committed to the development of academic excellence.  Life in the Sixth Form will be different in a number of ways from what you have been used to in Y11 and we are delighted with the confident young men and women and independent learners who leave us at the end of Year 13.

Essentially, successful AS and A2 study is a partnership between students and teachers, working towards a common goal. However, you will now need to become more responsible for your own learning within a challenging environment and you will be encouraged to think for yourself and to develop the self-discipline and rigour needed for success at Advanced Level.

As well as your academic work we want to encourage you to be fully involved in the life of the school. We believe that leadership and teamwork are important skills for all young adults and we are keen to provide chances for you to develop them as well as making a contribution to the wider community.

As senior students, Sixth-formers play an important role as leaders in the School and have many chances to work with younger pupils through our House, prefect and mentoring systems, and also to involve themselves in a varied programme of extra-curricular activities.

We offer the very best in academic and social development. We deliver a very broad range of AS and A2 courses, and offer students enrichment opportunities. Together with specialist careers guidance, the support of a Personal Tutor, and the dedicated support of specialist subject staff, it should come as no surprise that our students achieve consistently high examination results and gain places at the universities of their choice.

Many aspects of Sixth Form life are described on this website, but I would encourage you to visit us during our Information Evening in November or at another time by appointment. We are confident that you will be impressed with what we can offer.
