A Levels

The Crypt Grammar School has an excellent reputation for teaching to ‘A’ level, the ‘gold standard’ Level 3 qualification in the UK.

This year a record 83% of our students gained an A*- C grades at A Level with 99% of students achieving an A-E grade. Most strikingly, the progress our students made between starting their studies with us in Year 12, to the completion of those studies in Year 13, was amongst the very best in the county and our students’ results meant that almost all students achieved the grades required to move into their chosen Post 18 career/ education pathway.

The number of students in our Sixth Form supports a broad curriculum that offers you flexibility and choice. You’ll be encouraged to think creatively and be adventurous when choosing your subjects.  As a starting point, you can download more information about the course content for each subject, find out how it is taught and assessed and what future opportunities it may hold for you. If you want advice, we can help you design a programme that suits you, matching your individual interests, your academic strengths and your longer term career ambitions.

All students begin their Year 12 curriculum by studying either three of four full A Levels, with the opportunity to take up the highly regarded Extended Project Qualification in either Year 12 or in Year 13.  Alongside of this, students can also opt to study one of our academic enrichment choices, such as maths for scientists.

These strong A Level results send out a very strong signal to those students in Year 11 who are thinking of coming to The Crypt to study for their A Levels: you too can achieve highly in our outstanding sixth form.

Results at A-Level in 2016 were outstanding:62% of all grades were A*-B
