A Levels

The Crypt Grammar School has an excellent reputation for teaching to ‘A’ level, the ‘gold standard’ Level 3 qualification in the UK.

This year a record 62% of our students gained an A*- B grade at A Level with 99% of students achieving an A-E grade. Most importantly these results meant that almost all students achieved the grades required to move into their chosen Post 18 career/ education pathway . This year we had a record 81% of Year 13 leavers take up a University place, with 50% of them being a Russell Group University. 19% of students either took up an FE College place, moved into employment or were successful in getting a prestigious Higher Apprenticeship post.

The numbers of students in our Sixth Form supports a broad curriculum that offers you flexibility and choice. You’ll be encouraged to think creatively and be adventurous when choosing your subjects.  As a starting point, you can download more information about the course content for each subject, find out how it is taught and assessed and what opportunities it may hold for you. If you want advice, we can help you design a programme that suits you, matching your individual interests, your academic strengths and your longer term career ambitions.

All students begin their Year 12 curriculum by studying 3 A Levels and 1 AS subject - although some may choose to study more than this. In Year 13, most students continue with three full A-Levels, although some students continue to study all four subjects.  Many students combine their A-level subjects with the EPQ, Open University modules and General Studies.

Results at A-Level in 2016 were outstanding:62% of all grades were A*-B
